The 33-year-old spent the last four years at Swansea City after leaving Arsenal as an FA Cup winner in 2014, and played 150 times for the club, keeping 39 clean sheets.

The Swans were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

"See you after the World Cup, Lukasz!" the club tweeted to announce the move.

That may come sooner than Fabianski would like - he watched from the bench as Poland, with another ex-Asenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny between the sticks, lost their opening match of the tournament 2-1 to Senegal last night.

During his time in England, Fabianski has made a total of 181 appearances, which is an all-time record for a Polish player.

He has been capped 45 times for Poland since his senior debut in 2006. This is his second World Cup.
