"Why has no one put a Premier League club kit launch on a desert island?”
Premier League side Southampton may have just achieved the unthinkable, producing a brilliantly-executed kit-release video for one of the worst home jerseys you’re likely to see throughout the 2019/20 season.
The culmination of a clever social media campaign, ‘Saynts’ is a 6-minute video parody of the infamous Netflix documentary ‘Fyre’, which detailed the unprecedented rise and ultimate disappointment of the failed 2017 luxury music festival in the Bahamas.
The spoof stars coach Ralph Hassenhuttl and a host of players from Southampton’s men’s and women’s teams, but the disappointment of the actual kit reveal has left a sour taste in the mouths of Saints fans, who’ve blasted the eyesore online.
For a team who wear red and white stripes, you’d think not much could go wrong…
Behold Southampton’s jersey for the 2019/20 season, which somehow tarnishes a seemingly infallible red and white stripes template with a horrid thick, black strip which looks entirely out of place across the upper-chest and shoulders.
The design element simply makes no sense, with fans pointing out that red shoulders would have been the logical, far more visually-appealing alternative.

LD Sports’ front-of-shirt sponsorship is an eyesore in itself, though it’s more likely that this a by-product of the black shoulders, given the logo might have looked fine if not for the jersey simply having too much going on already.
Fans were marginally-less aggrieved about the club’s away and third kits, which are grey with fluro-yellow shoulders and white with mostly black shoulders respectively.
Comments from Southampton’s Twitter reveal are unanimous in the condemnation of the Saints’ new home strip, with a selection of the best reactions below:
Deserve relegation for this

Is that LD Sports bit removable? Asking for a friend 👀

My word... they are the worst kits we’ve had in living memory..

There is absolutely zero point in that black stripe at the top of the home shirt.

It doesn’t match/work with anything else on the shirt and it’s so bizarre that it’s there.
Looks like the template stopped loading at 80%
