Serbia midfielder Dusan Tadic has transferred to Dutch club Ajax from English side Southampton during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the Amsterdam club said on their website on Wednesday.
According to Ajax, the 29-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the club. The Dutch side paid 13.2 million dollars to Southampton but this amount could increase to 15.9 million dollars.
Tadic started his career at Vojvodina Novi Sad in 2006 and played for the club until 2010. The Serb then moved to Dutch clubs Groningen and Twente. In 2014, the midfielder joined Southampton, where he played 162 matches and scored 24 goals.
Serbia, who are third in Group E with three points, will face leaders Brazil in their final group-stage match at Moscow's Spartak Stadium later on Wednesday.
Tadic has made one assist, helping his side to score one of their two goals at this summer's tournament so far.
