Mooy, out of action for nearly two months with a knee injury, returned in the 1-0 loss against Everton, one club that he was been linked with a possible move to before the transfer window closes overnight.

The Australian came off the bench in the 55th minute but was impressive and named man of the match.

The midfielder almost scored with a well-taken freekick.

Siewert, who has replaced David Wagner in the hot seat, was pleased to be able to call on the Socceroo.

"He gave us the impetus when he came on the pitch," the German told The Yorkshire Post.

"We knew that he could not start because after such an injury, it is not easy to come back like he did. You can see his quality with the free-kick and he is an important player in our squad and I am very thankful that he is back again.

"It definitely gives the lads confidence too. Definitely. I was pleased with the performance. I have had just seven days to get the boys used to my ideas.

"I am not just sure what would have happened if we had not conceded the goal so early. The way we came back made me really proud."
