More than 2.5 million Muscovites watched Monday's World Cup final between Croatia and France, broadcast live by the Russia-1 channel, a survey conducted by the Mediascope research company.
France won the World Cup for the second time after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
According to Mediascope's preliminary data, 2,569,322 Muscovites aged four or older watched the match, while 4,302,934 people based in Moscow watched the broadcast for at least a minute.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Monday (AEST) with 64 games played in 11 cities across the country.
