Fringe Socceroo Tommy Oar is set to leave Brisbane Roar and return for a second spell in Europe with the lure of UEFA Champions League football.
The 25-year-old winger, who spent five years in the Netherlands with Utrecht before a short spell with Ipswich Town, is reportedly due to fly to Cyprus for a medical with APOEL Nicosia.
APOEL have triggered Oar's release clause in his contract, believed to be worth just over $500,000.
AAP has reported Brisbane have agreed to the proposed deal.
The Cypriot powerhouse are 26-time champions domestically and set to compete in the qualifying round for a spot in the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League.
Oar made 24 appearances for Roar in 2016/17, including 19 starts but only netted one goal.
He has been unable to re-discover his brilliant form when he emerged as the 2009/10 A-League Young Footballer of the Year, earning the label as 'the next Harry Kewell'.
APOEL are currently managed by Dutchman Mario Been who was quoted in the Cypriot press as saying the deal is "very close".
Been was manager of Feyenoord during the early years of Oar's time in the Dutch Eredivisie at Utrecht.
The Dutchman was appointed in May for a club who has won the Cypriot title for the past five seasons.
