Mooy’s pinpoint delivery was met by Christopher Schindler's downward header on 58 minutes, securing a hard-fought 1-0 away win over a well-drilled Ipswich Town.

The result overnight sees Hudderfield move two points clear at the top of the Championship table.

Coach David Wagner was delighted to keep a clean sheet and see his lads finally capitalise on a set piece opportunity.

Speaking post-match Wagner said: “It was a good delivery, good timing and good header. Unfortunately we waited 11 games but it was the right moment to score our first set piece goal.”

Leading up to the match Mooy spoke with HTTV about picking up back-to-back Player of the Month awards for August and September.

“I’ve really appreciated the support (from the fans) so far and hopefully it continues,” Mooy said. “Hopefully they like me at the end as well.

“Every single game the atmosphere’s been quality. I really enjoy playing – it makes the game a bit more special.”

Mooy, on loan from Manchester City, was expecting a tough game from Ipswich, and it proved the case, with the home side difficult to break down.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old who chipped in with 20 assists for Melbourne City last season, said he was enjoying playing a pivotal role in the Terriers promotion push.

“I’m just enjoying it, trying to place my best every game I play,” Mooy told HTTV.

“It’s a bit different role for me at the moment, I’m enjoying it, I’m getting lots of the ball and helping the team play the style the manager wants. I’m happy.”
