Socceroos winger Awer Mabil was a key force in his Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland's progression to the third round of Champions League qualifiers, but he wasn't entirely satisfied.
Mabil has been his own biggest critic at many times throughout his career, but despite overcoming substantial recent off-field obstacles to return to peak form at the Danish Superliga heavyweights, he's still looking to push him team to greater heights.
Mabil played the full match as Midtjylland defeated Belarusian European regulars Ludogorets to seal their spot in the third round of qualifiers, with the drawn remaining to be confirmed.
“We played a really good match and dominated large parts of the showdown. It annoys me that we did not score more goals,” Mabil told the Midtjylland official website.
“We delivered as a team and followed the plan, but we have to put the ball away in our good periods. We take that with us and continue to work towards the next round.”
Mabil's side will play again in a friendly match tomorrow, before they kick off their season against Sonderjyske next month.
Midtjylland are the reigning regular season premiership winners in Denmark, but lost the Championship round to FC Copenhagen.
