Arjen Robben is now playing alongside Socceroos youngster Ajdin Hrustic for Eredivisie club Groningen.
While the two wingers have different styles and are at very different stages of their careers, Hrustic can learn so much from the 36-year-old who recently returned to his boyhood club in style.
Robben played a 30 minute cameo againstĀ Almere Metropolis in a 1-1 draw, with the winger showing just how much he epitomises the modern inverted winger - the cut inside, shoot, repeat.
The Champions League and eight-time Bundesliga winner (among over 20 individual adorations) is considered the greatest inverted winger of the modern age, and among the greatest right wingers of all time.
It's a trait the Socceroos have traditionally lacked since the glory days of Harry Kewell, with crosses to Tim Cahill heavily-relied on during the striker's career and a general lack of explosive, world-class wingers.
But Hrustic has shown promise, both in his Eredivisie career and very brief Socceroos appearances. Alongside Robben in the Groningen lineup, he didn't look too far behind.
There was one occasion when Robben artfully cut inside to set Hrustic up for a shot, which the Aussie blazed over, and another later where the former Bayern Munich star gracefully laced Hrustic down the wing.
An optimistic start, and a potential partnership - and mentorship - with electrifying potential.
