Melbourne City midfielder Denis Genreau has had a barnstorming pre-season scoring in their last four matches before their first fixture at home to Marco Rojas' SC Heerenveen.

Genreau, 19, will look to move on from his performance after being substituted at half-time as his side went down 3-2 at home.

Ajdin Hrustic continued his form from last season starting and playing 90 minutes for FC Gronigen away to Vitesse Arnhem. Unfortunately, the 22-year old left much to be desired from his performance as his side was thrashed 5-1 while he picked up a booking.

Elsewhere, former Newcastle Jets goalkeeper Mark Birighitti was between the sticks and completed 90 minute for NAC BReda's first match away to AZ Alkmaar. There wasn't much the fringe Socceroo could do for his defenders (although he was certainly culpable for the third) as his side conceded five unanswered goals in a confidence-sapping match.

Socceroos central defender Trent Sainsbury was the only Aussie to enjoy a positive performance from his new side, PSV Eindenhoven. Although he watched from the stands, given a few days to adjust to his new surroundings, PSV recorded a 4-0 victory over FC Utrecht.

Finally, an unknown young defender grinding it out in Holland is still waiting for his chance in the first team. Hailing from the football nursery of Wollongong, 18-year old Dylan Ryan watched on as Willem II suffered a 1-0 home defeat to VVV-Venlo.

The youngster played 17 Dutch youth league, reserve and cup matches last season for the Eredivisie club.
